How do I schedule a conference with my child's teacher?
Teacher conferences can be scheduled in one of two ways. In November, parent-teacher conference days are scheduled over a two day period. Day 1 is from 1:00 to 8:00 PM and Day 2 is from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Teacher conferences on those days are broken into 20 minute increments and filled on a first come, first serve basis. Teacher conferences can also be scheduled throughout the school year with your child's core team teachers. These meetings occur on specific team meeting days and at specific times. It is a great opportunity to gather all the teachers in the same place and to facilitate mutual communication between parents and teachers. If interested, please email your student's homeroom teacher. This information can be found under the "Grade Level Teams" menu.
How do I check my child's grades during the school year?

Click to access your Skyward account.
Does the school offer tutoring services?
Cedar Crest Middle School does not offer tutoring services during the school year. On occasion, high school or college students make us aware of tutoring services that they are offering. When that occurs, we pass on their name and contact information to a parent requesting such information. Schedule, fees, payment arrangements and location are all arranged between the private tutor and the parent. During the summer months, we solicit teacher interest in providing private tutoring services and also make that list available to parents upon request.
Can my child get extra time during or after the school day to complete work, study, review, etc.?
Yes, several ways are available to students for this purpose. During the school day, students may use their FLEX or NEST periods. After the school day, CCMS offers our Jump Start program. This program starts in November and meets nearly every Tuesday and Thursday through March. Students report at 3:10 PM, sign in and remain until 4:10 PM. Students must have work to do for the duration of that day's Jump Start. Students must arrange parent transportation in advance or ride the activity bus at 4:15 PM.
How are students assigned to their respective teams?
All teams are comprised of students across all ability levels and needs. Greatest effort is made to balance teams proportionally by gender. Assigning students to teams is a fluid process that takes many iterations before making final assignments, which usually are made right before the first day of school. Any requests for specific teams or teachers must be made in writing to our building principal, Mr. Burton. Written requests should also explicitly state the reasons for such a request. It will be the principal's discretion if a request is honored.
What is the difference between a counselor and a learning facilitator?
A learning facilitator is also a trained and certified school psychologist. While both can provide counseling to students and consultation to teachers and parents, only the learning facilitator can also conduct a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary evaluation.
