L.I.F.T.
Life Intervention for Teens (L.I.F.T.) is the student assistance program at CCMS. Adolescences is a difficult time and students may experience moments of emotional difficulties for a variety of reasons. Situations such as divorce, death of a loved one, neglect, abuse, chronic illness, drug use by a student or family member, or a great many other reasons may result in feelings of confusion or depression. Help is available to any student that is struggling with unusual feelings or behaviors. Anyone may contact a counselor, teacher, nurse, or LIFT team member with concerns regarding a student. Confidential and anonymous notes can also be dropped in the LIFT boxes that are located in the library and nurse's office. A member of the LIFT team will contact referred students and parents to offer support. Team members include:
School-Based Counseling
Students may sometimes need more intensive or frequent counseling services and support than the school counselor can offer. Appointments outside the school day can be hard to find. Families that are unable to transport their children to counseling sessions during the school day might consider school-based counseling. T.W. Ponnessa offers school-based counseling appointments in which a Licensed Professional Counselor comes to the school to hold sessions with students. If interested in this service, please contact your child's school counselor for more information and an application.
